Stefan Hörberg passed away suddenly in early December.

I think Stefan did a great performance in FÅ, he was very fitting for the part

We don't know much about the circumstances around his death, but it's always particularly tragic when a young person dies

I find it hard to believe that it's just over a year has passed since we picked up on this sad news. Time just seems to go by so fast, but sadly, not for Stefan. But, he will live on through the film.

Thats pretty tragic as i taught Stefan played a right good asshole boyfriend and friend in the film, and is pretty underrated . As is Mathias Rust as Johan and especially Erica Carlson as Jessica, who for me is every bit as good as the two leads.

I missed this message. Said to hear a star of Fucking Åmål died this young. He already was 29?

Stefan played a crucial role to bring about the story that had to be told in the world of 1997. That being said, the story still has to be told sadly, until freedom of lifestyle is a common good.

I did not watch Fucking Åmål for a while now, but this message gives me a big impulse to watch it again this Sunday. Sunday is the day (in my memory) I watched the movie for the first time on VHS.

Hmmm..... I think it was a suicide, but I´m not 100% sure. He had his demons, drugs etc... Very tragic

I found a part in which Mathias, Stefan's friend, comments on the life and death of his friend Stefan, I have translated that part:


"They both kept in touch almost until the end.

- It was really terrible, what happened. But he wasn't feeling well, had quite big problems with substance abuse and so on. I think, unfortunately, that he had never been really well, not when he was younger either. Why I don't really understand, because he had a good upbringing with parents who loved him. His father asked me to call Stefan sometimes when he was hard to reach.

Did you notice during the shooting of the film that he was not feeling well?

- No, during the Fucking Åmål recording, I think he was at his very best.

How do you remember Stefan?

- Stefan was a great guy, happy, handsome and fun-loving. I remember that during the recording of Fucking Åmål he always joked with the guys on sound. He would always put the mic on when they asked us to turn it off, then he would go whispering, breathing and making noises in the mic so they would be completely confused and say "where is that noise coming from?" It was hilarious, he laughed like hell at it.

Hänt has been in contact with Stefan's relatives, who think it's okay to write about him, but they don't want to leave any comments."
