One of Fucking Åmål's production assistants Axel Grigor posted just the other day some never before seen photos from the making of the film on his Facebook page. I thought I'll post them here as they show up.

20 years (!!) have flown by since I this took this photo of Alexandra Dahlström on set of Swedish film FUCKING ÅMÅL/SHOW ME LOVE. My first experience of a film shoot.

Those weeks in Trollhättan in spring 1998 taught me the most fundamental thing about filmmaking: it’s a team effort. Bonus skill: how to drive a Toyota Hi-Ace like a boss.

Average team age: 26,7...or thereabouts. Forever grateful that this became my first glimpse of what it takes to create a believable, vivid world on screen.

Will share some more of my behind-the-scenes pics in days to come. For those of you in Sweden, the film is about to show on SVT.

These are some photos taken from the short visit to Åmål that a part of the crew made as research. Grigor is reportedly from Åmål himself.

For various movie-making reasons, Fucking Åmål (Show Me Love) wasn’t shot in Åmål but in Trollhättan, an hour’s drive to the south.

However, a skeleton crew popped up to Åmål for half a day to capture some street shots. None of these made it into the film, but as the only crew member actually from “Fucking jävla kuk-Åmål!”, I’m glad I got to tag along.

Here’s me attempting to appear competent with a mike while DP Ulf Brantås and camera assistant Trolle Davidson try to make the most of a wet & dreary day.

I hope that he meant to continue on with even more photos than those from Åmål which he posted two days afterwards. One can dream at least.
