The aspect ratio is a bit off anyway, looking at the site that fish gave the first segment was 720x406 but it probably should be 720x480.

Too bad about the hard coded subs, they look so ugly, but better hard coded than non-existant.

I think I'll give this a rest for a day or so and try to restore to health a few of the fading synapses in my brain.

I'm only just learning about the compatible systems my dvd player uses so I can try to find the best converter I can, and then the best burner. Makes my brain ache just thinking about it. :?

Thinking has never been my strongest suit. :T

Maybe, mpox, but the second version was cutting off the bottom of the subtitles!

I give up, it made it worse than ever. Converting it to mpeg seems to have done something weird to the ratio altogether. I think I'll stick to the original Flick'd one, I can always watch the last 10 minutes on the computer (I'm going to get a new player this week anyway, and you never know, it might be alright on there). With luck, they'll actually pull their finger out and have released it by the time I watch it again!

I wonder what it would be like as an AVI (not even Flick'd, just as is, since most modern players can play AVIs)?

I might try it with just part 6 and see what the results are.

Part 6 seemed to go very well as an avi, no blips, no deterioration in picture quality that I could see. I'm going to burn the whole thing and see what results!

Um, no, don't bother. No blip, but the picture quality sucked...

Pity.
That was an almost perfect idea. :(

I think we're going to have to accept we're stuck with it as is until they bring out a proper dvd!

I dipped into some strategic cash reserves and paid best part of $50 for the Total Video2DVD program and ......It wouldn't work. :x ....So I reinstalled it and then tried again.

I converted and burned the available clips of Skärgårdsdoktorn and they turned out fine. Picture is probably around 8/10 (though that might just be my eyesight failing after staring at a computer screen), audio is great. Rebecka is cute, even drunk, frozen and with short hair.

The problem I had with Total Video2DVD not burning before was absent, but that was only with two clips. I think I'll build up to a heap more and see if I can either find the tipping point, or find that it now works fine. Best of all, no blip. :D

DVD Flick has done everything else good for me. It's just Sherdil that was barmy in the last 10 minutes, for some inexplicable reason!

Are you using the U-Tube clips or the ones straight from Caravan Films?
My copy of Sherdil works great but that was with the CF clips and using DVDFlick to burn it. Watched it again last night without any problems. Picture quality is good. (not great but good) If your "last 10 mins" problem is just one clip maybe you could try downloading that one again to see if that makes a difference.

Made another disc with 14 U-Tube clips on it. No problems with the convert or burn phases with Total Vid2dvd. Picture quality was mixed from pretty good to very ordinary, though I think that had a lot to do with the quality in the original clip.

It was the ones from CF Films themselves. I think I'll wait. It'll probably be out properly by the time I get round to watching it again!

I think I'll buy it as well when CF get around to re-releasing it, but it's nice to have the made one in the meantime.

Pity yours is being such a bitch though, 'cause there's a good feeling about making a dvd and getting it to work. That's quite new for me. :D

I'll keep the avi one as well, I think (in the same case). The quality is just about acceptable enough to watch the last 10 minutes on that if an official one still hasn't come out by my next viewing.

Of course, you never know, since the Flick'd disc played fine on the computer, it could just be my dvd player being an arse. I'm planning on getting another very soon, so we'll see how it is on that one!

Perhaps you only need to put Sherdil aside for a while and take on a new project to invigorate yourself. Something like the whole Fucking Åmål movie which can be found here...

Different set of subtitles might make it interesting.
