Those are lovely, Fish, well found.

I'm away house minding for a month, very nice too; but I have to cadge a go on Jan's iPad to get online, so will probably be quieter than usual. Back soon!

...I'm away house minding for a month...

Sounds like fun.
I always like looking after other people's houses in new locations. *:)*

Had a look through Masaaki's pics again and found this lurking in the back right hand corner of one I'd missed before. *:)*

So sick of nothing new coming to light I decided to make a few more gifs from La Nuit Tombé.

Pauline wonders when the hell Fish will finish his icecream and just go. :x :T

I've temporarily given up searching for new stuff.
See how things are in a few days.
Something might have happened.  :P

You mean like, something important?

Tomorrow, something happens all right: the theatrical release of Parenthèse... nowhere near me :x .

Yes. It's all over social media. Lots of new pics and everything.
But sadly nothing of Pauline since those pics from last week.

Pity it isn't close, but maybe it'll get a wide release if it lives up to all the hype.

Been looking on from afar at events in France of late.
Nice being the latest of them.
Absolutely shocking.

I'm forever appalled at man's inhumanity to man.

I hope you, your family and loved ones are well out of harms way.
Same goes for Pauline too of course.

It's supposed to come out today, but on Allociné there are but 2 theaters indicated which show it. Maybe it'll be more accurate later.
Anyway, I don't think there will be a wide release, sadly. Those in Paris will be able to see it, the others... well, they should have lived in Paris  .

Yes, we are safe, but seems like it is closer now. My mother planned to spend her week-end in Nice, but after the events had to cancel. I also have an ex classmate who was on the Promenade des anglais and barely avoided the truck.

That's a shame.
I believe the reviews were good but I'll need to translate them before I can understand them.
Still, it might result in an early DVD release. *:)*

So scary.
I'm glad they avoided the violence.
Hope you all stay safe.

It's long been an ambition of mine to make a nice gif of the kiss between Marie and Floriane.
And as I have nothing else new, I can now tick that off the bucket list. 8)
So lovely.Image

Eleven theaters now showing Parenthèse. Still I find this scandalous. I've never paid much attention to this, but now I consulted the list of all the movies that come out this week and the number of theaters which show them. There are only three movies widely distributed of about 20 come out (The BFG, Independence Day 2 and The purge 3). And each week, it's the same. It's therefore not surprising that I find nothing worth seeing...

Haven't read the reviews yet, but I will.

So lovely.

Lovely? I never found this lovely, as I see it, it's not a liberating kiss: Floriane acts like a bitch. I thought that when Marie asked Floriane to be her first, what happened wasn't what she expected. Floriane cuts out all hopes of a healthy relationship when she says that "it wasn't that hard". I think Marie wanted Floriane to deflower her and maybe go further. That explains why shee's weeping after.
Anyway, that's my interpretation, I've read elsewhere that all the three girls get what they want (??).

Hmmm. Not the greatest selection, is it?
I thought there may have been more French films showing. :(

Owen wrote:...I never found this lovely...

That's a perfectly valid view when put into the context of the film and makes complete sense, but....
I chose to take the scene in isolation from the rest of the story and ended the gif where I did for that reason.
Perhaps I should have started my post by saying that I was coming from an alternate reality where Floriane was being released from the closet in which she'd been hiding.
Personally I loved Floriane's reaction in the first few second's after the kiss ended.
In my reality her breathing showed the true nature of where she would like her life to be.
After those moments my reality crumbles. :T

Perhaps the next time I watch "Naissance des pieuvres" I will see the scene from a different viewpoint.

I'm sure Adele didn't have to act too hard at being turned on in that scene!

But her character Floriane has too much invested in her sexual power over boys to release her iron control of, and cynical detachment from, her real feelings; so she gives Marie a treacherous brush-off, and winds up dancing with herself, a cold blue light underlining her icy narcissism, smiling smugly about...something, with the boys all giving her a wide berth.

Marie, who has so bravely forced the issue, simultaneously realises that she really is gay, and that Floriane will never return her love; unlike her straight friend Anne, who obviously does love her, and who she has come so close to dumping for Floriane. The one line, "You sure she's waiting for you?" shows that Anne knows very well what the score is; but unlike Floriane, she does not betray their friendship, and one doubts that Marie will be going back for any more horrible wounding.

That's how I read it, anyway

So yes, the kiss .gif is hot, and very beautiful, but it's still a tragic scene.

Fish, the jump at the end of the gif might just be an opportunity...try morphing between the last and first frames, over about half a second?

Which is why I stopped the gif where I did and removed myself to an alternate reality.
But I'm back in yours and Owen's now.
I'm not sure I like being here, but I completely agree with you both.

DMt. wrote:...try morphing between the last and first frames...

It's from a video clip rather than pics and I haven't found a way of doing that yet.
(but I'm looking)

I have a feeling we're the ones being kept in the dark. Image  :P
