As I am.
After my last post, I realised that I've been hijacked by myself, so I restricted myself in order to prepare for the exam. Don't know the results yet.
After them, I found out that I hadn't as much time as I was hoping for, so unfortunately there is no fanfiction finished, I've advanced very little. There are four chapters, I've finished translating one, half of the second is done. I don't post lest it feel incomplete (am I using "lest" right?).

Congratulations for being able to see Billionnaire. My regret is that even if it is intended to be viewed on a big screen, not releasing it disservices the movie. I'm talking about Edgar, you made it seems that he's doesn't want it to be criticised.
Thanks for revealing Pauline's cameo (or is it role?) in Parenthèse. I like her style here, by contrast with her other roles. (How do you watch French without subtitles?)

I think I didn't mention, but I've seen Jamais contente in theater when it was released. I don't have time now to review it, but I will later. I thought that it's very good, despite the (expected?) lack of Acquart, who appears prominently in two scenes only, and for other two or three scenes remains in the background.

Exactly right Owen. :Y

In your own time Owen.
We'll be patient.
You have more important priorities that need your attention.
Best of luck with those results.

Owen wrote:Billionaire

Or "Los Feliz" as it's now named. :P
Here's a couple of quotes from Edgar's last email which may explain his thoughts.
".... my films are not well received either - but i keep on going. well, it is different though, as i am aiming at a very different audience. one could call it (the currently bashed) intellectual elite...."
".... the movie always comes with a show in a museum. the links also contain the movie itself. i take it for granted that you will not pass the link on to anyone. it is a real exception as i do not want people to see the movie on a computer screen. it needs the big screen and it needs a 5.1. sound system in order to engulf the audience with its magic...."
".... you will see, pauline - among the other actors - did a great job!"

I don't think it's a desire to not be criticised so much as his wanting to protect the films connection to the museum art show.
Maybe in time his desire for that connection will lessen, and then we can look forward to a DVD release.

Owen wrote:...Pauline's cameo (or is it role?) in Parenthèse...

I guess it's a number of cameos, without really developing her character into a major role.
Mind you, "(How do you watch French without subtitles?)", my conversational French is extremely limited, so my lack of understanding of what anyone was actually saying, as they were saying it, meant I didn't fully understand her function in the film and it seemed to be just a segway between more "important" scenes.

Owen wrote:... Jamais contente ...

I like the premise of this film even though there's a "lack of Acquart".
If it measures up I'd love to see it too.
I'll be interested in your review when you find time.

Hmmmm. Lots of museums in Manchester and Liverpool, Edgar... :(

Hey Owen! Good to read you again. Hope you get the exam results you want [or even more].

I'm going to write to Edgar H too [thanks fish!] and ask him if there are plans for UK showings of Los Feliz.

Any joy will be reported back here... 8)

God, it's quiet, isn't it? I don't have fish's SEO skills, but I can't find anything to contribute either. *:|*

Maybe Pauline is resting up, after the film...

Or already on another project, and being all hush-hush? *:)*

Sometimes I wish I was on faecebook.

But then I come to my senses again.

That'd be nice. :D
And, you're welcome.

At long last, an envelope from France.
Christelle's DVD of Dans la Chambre arrived in the post together with a couple of "cast" pics.

This one's my favourite. *:)*

There are two copies of the film on the DVD, one with subs, one without.
I'll have to play around with them a bit as they're made for the Windows Media Player and I prefer the VLC media player.
The vid's already in better definition than the copy on vimeo but I'd like to get it as good as I can and then see what use I can make of it. :T

The freeware transcoder Format Factory seems pretty good to me, fishy [like I'd know, really, but I haven't ruined anything with it yet].

WMP, urgh. So intrusive and resource-greedy. :N

VLC has long urinated on it from a great height. :Y

L'Acquart belle et poignant, there. ^

I'd grab 1-2 sec of that shot, duplicate it, reverse the duplicate clip and stick it after the original - that should [in theory] make a seamless loop, ideal for giffing...

Y'know, the fishy slo-mo "wtf did I just see?" thing...

I think I've entered my own time loop or something.
Gates is fighting back.
Yesterday I played both versions from the DVD on VLC player.
Today I get error messages. :r :T

Haven't sorted it out yet but I'm still in there trying. :x

I don't know if there's any incidental music on the soundtrack there, but it shouldn't be impossible for me to put a few sweet-but-spooky drones under a 4-sec clip...do gif's handle sound? Might have to be another format...

Never seen sound on any gif.
If it was possible I imagine the file size would be prohibitive.
Those little suckers just hoover up the megs.

DMt. wrote:L'Acquart belle et poignant, there...

Been having a close look and I don't think that image actually appears in the film.

Close but not there. :(

This is the from same scene but I think Christelle must be keeping all the good stuff for herself. :)P :P

Let's hope so. But we can ask this ourselves now too :P .

Must be an interesting experience... If I get to see it, I'll try to tell here what her role was.

Good pictures! Are they the only extra for the short? Is the short longer in your version? :T

DMt. wrote:WMP, urgh. So intrusive and resource-greedy.

I never got to make WMP work. So it's VLC for years.
