But their new and unlikely partnership could be the only thing that will keep them both alive when the seemingly routine investigation of the death of a prostitute lands them in conflict with a ruthless band of ex-special forces soldiers turned international heroin smugglers... This legendary 80s action-thriller spawned no less than three sequels and remains an absolute classic of the genre, fast, funny, exciting, blood-soaked and often brutal. A long standing favourite, and still fantastic.

Went to the cinema to see Run All Night today. Liam Neeson is a lush of an ex-hit-man now a joke to most of his former colleagues, until his son witnesses a murder committed by none other than the son of his former boss and friend (Ed Harris). When the son of the latter refuses to let his father handle it and attempts to kill Neeson's son, only for Neeson to step in and kill him instead, it sparks a war between the two formerly close criminals that neither may survive... Pretty decent thriller with good performances and solid action scenes (even if some elements of the plot seem oddly similar to John Wick).

Saw Licence to Kill again last night. Timothy Dalton stars as a James Bond who goes rogue when his CIA friend Felix and his new wife are brutally attacked by escaped drug baron Sanchez (Robert Davi) and goes on a personal crusade of vengeance, infiltrating Sanchez's criminal empire and setting out to destroy him from within. Licence to Kill is more of a bloody 80s revenge thriller than your standard Bond escapade, but works very well, with Dalton on steely form and Davi making a menacing villain. Some old fashioned Bondian charm and humour is provided by Desmond Llewellyn's Q, who gets his biggest part in the whole series when Q heads out into the field on his own to assist James. Really enjoyed this.

Saw Horns this afternoon. Daniel Radcliffe is an ordinary young man deeply in love with his childhood sweetheart only to have her murdered and have everyone think he committed the crime. if that wasn't bad enough, he then wakes up one morning after a drunken bender to find horns growing out of his head that seem to compel everyone around him to spill their darkest secrets... Interesting but not entirely successful supernatural thriller with a good performance from Dan Radcliffe. I couldn't help but be amused by him playing a character with something strange on his forehead, who the media prints terrible lies about, and who develops an odd bond with snakes... hmm, where have I seen that before?

Well, I don't know, Ian, is it a HP reference maybe...?
