Went to the cinema this afternoon to see Inglourious Basterds. Wasn't really sure what to expect, given Tarantino has been rather off-form of late (Death Proof was bloody awful IMHO; his shortest movie, yet somehow his most boring!), and the critics seem divided as always. Anyway...

... LOVED IT. Thought it was great, I really did. Epic, tense, obscenely violent and also very funny. Some great performances and set-pieces, leading to an utterly OTT climax. The end kinda reminds me of Pulp Fiction in a way, not in any literal sense, just in the way it leaves you walking out of the cinema with a huge, goofy grin on your face at the sheer audaciousness of what you've just witnessed. Brilliant fun, easily his best since PF. Put it this way - I am EXTREMELY selective (read: picky  ) about what movies I buy on dvd these days, but I know I'll be getting this.

Oh, and can I say... I don't know the actress' name, but the girl who plays the vengeful cinema owner is SERIOUSLY hot. Little flutter of a crush developing during the movie here.

Great fun.

Glad you enjoyed it. Anything would have been better than being out in the rain and freezing wind though, eh?

I think Tarantino can be so mindlessly violent that it borders on the cartoonish and his stuff (what I've seen of it anyway) is just so much fun. Sort of Itchy and Scratchy kind of stuff. If this follows that trend it seems he's back on a winner.

I must go see it too.

Yes, it was lovely weather today, wasn't it? Got wet just waiting for the bus (shelters with no sides are not much use, by the way   ). Good job I enjoyed it as much as I did.

It's a funny mix. Some moments can be genuinely shocking and powerful, and then some others sail so wildly over the top that you just roar with laughter. It shouldn't work, yet it does!

Yeah, it was pretty good. One of only three movies (so far, anyway) I've bothered to see at the cinema this year! :D

Saw The Car last night. Mm, yes. Not bad, but very dated and ultimately VERY silly. Amazing to see that Josh Brolin really does look his dad used to, though!

Snaps has a lot to answer for, this for starters.

Some little red haired bint "on the seven seas".
The whole movie is in 11 sections on You Tube, part 1 is here...

I've seen it last week and i must say it was awesome! Most certainly a must-see. Loved the way how the violence was potrait and it had some funny moments as well. The end-scene is fantastic!
Oh and by the way, Mélanie Laurent ;) And yes, she's kinda hot :o

Saw Celia tonight. Mm, yeah, didn't really like it much. Fun to see Amelia Frid (and she was in it much more than I remembered from when I saw it on ABC in the late 90s), even if she is just a little girl in it. Also fun to spot a couple more Neighbours alumni from around the same time in it. In general, though, since I didn't particularly like the film and it's not one I'm going to be reaching for if I feel like an Amelia fix, this is one for my OCCD (Obsessive Compulsive Completist Disorder) only.

I waited 10 years before watching FÅ and... I waited 24 years before watching The Breakfast Club.
When it appeared I was a boy and probably I would have liked it something more (grammar?), but I have to stick to my present point of vue.
In some scenes it's false, stereotyped, boring. The school principal character is a dumb cliché. Some of the conversations really fake (IMHO, even considering a possibility of cultural differences between european and american youth).

I don't want to excede in negative comments, it's not completely bad, but I expected a great coming of age film and I was disappointed.
What do you think about it?

Have the same opinion as you on this one.

Good for a switch your brain off evening. :D

Don't need a movie for that, I have those all the time.

Yes, haven't posted for a long time!

Good ;)

Anyway, the last 2 movies i've seen were V for Vendetta and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince. I really like both movies, i'd recommend them to anyone.
V has some very good dialogues and Harry P. is just cool as always.

Oh, and, Bonnie Wright is looking pretty hot as well. :D
