Død Snø was indeed very funny.
The sequel is out in theaters in a couple of weeks.

Btw, the unoriginal setting (collage kids at cabin) was more a homage to the genre, to be fair.

Trollhunter. A group of college filmmakers following what they believe is an illegal bear poacher in the Norwegian forests get more than they bargained for when they find he's actually an expert, government sanctioned hunter of trolls - which are actually only too real! This Norwegian fantasy-thriller mockumentary is imaginative and well-shot, if perhaps a little too long and unfocused to fully hit the mark. Good, though.

Not Another Happy Ending. Passable enough romantic comedy. Thoroughly unremarkable but largely inoffensive fluff, with Karen Gillan adding some appeal.

Non-Stop, at the cinema. Liam Neeson is an Air Marshal on an international flight who gets a text message demanding $150 million dollars be wired to a bank account... or someone on the plane will die every 20 minutes. Nothing we haven't seen before but an efficient, exciting and solid thriller nonetheless.

Escape Plan. Unremarkable but fun 80s throwback, as Sylvester Stallone plays a professional prison breaker who gets set up and thrown in the most escape-proof prison ever built. Needless to say, he intends to escape and he's got help on the inside in the shape of fellow inmate Arnold Schwarzenegger! Well, I wouldn't bet against them... Good entertainment.

Saw Noah today. Didn't like it much. Too much religiosity for me. Emma gave a terrific performance (in addition to being so absolutely gorgeous that I was blessed with decidedly impure, shamelessly sinful thoughts throughout ), and her little story was quite touching but I was not terribly enamored of the film as a whole, unfortunately.

For a film that cost squillions it seems to have had more "so-so" reviews than good ones.
Hope Russell got his big bucks in advance.

I've never really been a fan of pre-70s movies (except maybe the Bonds and one or two Hitchcocks) but I thought I'd give some a punt.

Cat People (40s) Boring. Stick with the 80s version.

The Last Man on Earth (early 60s). Not bad actually, the original adaptation of the story later remade by Charlton Heston (The Omega Man) and most recently Will Smith (I Am Legend). Vincent Price is the last man alive when a plague sweeps the world and leaves nothing left alive but vampires. Slow and dated, to be sure, but quite atmospheric and spooky, with a good performance by Price. Interesting that the "vampires" seem more like the lumbering zombies "invented" by Romero a few years later.

Creature from the Black Lagoon (54). Oh dear. Oh.... dear.


Perhaps pre-60s is a step too far. I have got a couple of 60s Hammers off YT, though.

Me like too. Great movies. From these 2 directors Sommaren med Monika (summer with Monika) and 2001 a space odyssey is in my all-time favorite top 10 list.

Have seen a handfull of Bergman films, but there's many to check out yet, I guess.

My favorits from the aforementioned directors is Kubrick's A Clockwork Oranger, and Bergman's Fanny och Alexander, I think.
Didn't mention them since they are made post 70's.

Death Line. Donald Pleasence is an eccentric London police detective whose curiosity is piqued by the apparent disappearance of an OBE from a Tube station. When two grisly slayings follow, it soon becomes apparent that the urban legends of feral, cannibalistic humans living underneath the city may be more fact than myth... This creepy early 70s British spinechiller is not massively well known these days, but does have a strong cult following, and I can see why. I enjoyed it, it's well made, well acted and rather disturbing (even more disturbing when you know the film was inspired by a real urban legend that grew up after some disturbing reports back in the 30s). Christopher Lee has an entertaining cameo as a particularly snotty government operative, and Pleasence's idiosyncratic character adds a touch of humour to a dark tale. I liked it.

It's Bergman's coming of age story of the early fifties. The story goes that Bergman lost all the material (or it was stolen) after shooting the movie, so he had to shoot the movie again, but then resulting into this materpiece.

Fanny och Alexander, wild strawberries, seventh seal indeed also great movies!

Must check it out then.

Vargtimmen (Hour of the Wolf) is also a great one.
Very surreal and spooky.



Only seen Treasure of the Sierra Madre from your suggestions Dave, but after a little imdb-searching the rest looks worth cheacking out as well.
