Agree it's on a few people's worst of the year so far list's which I find crazy. I liked it a lot more then the stupid Expendables 3, which was utter rubbish.

I didn't like the first one to be honest and, given that I've never been much of a Stallone fan, the bad reviews, and that Arnie is apparently hardly in it anyway, it sounds eminently missable to me. :wink:

I'm astonished on how Lukas keeps getting such great performances out of inexperienced first time actors/actresses.

I think you'll like it, it's a true feelgood film about a young musician with stage fright in Gothenburg.
A very funny, touching and beautiful film, maybe my top pick of movies in general last year.
It's based on the lyrics of Swedish pop/rock artist Håkan Hellström.

I consider it 2014 as you said as it's been released this year in Ireland and the U.K. It is a seriously charming film, that's why I would love a triple bill cinema screening of Fucking Amal, Together and We are The Best. I love charming Moodysson rather then preachy and downbeat Moodysson. I hope he sticks to this route from now on but I highly doubt it. I think the performances rival that of Fucking Amal.

, it's Moodysson's best film since Together for me. I've watched it twice more since got it and I wouldn't be afraid to put it alongside Fucking Amal it's that good. It's so lighthearted and a lot of fun. Great Soundtrack too.

Saw Raising Cain again last night, first time in a long time. John Lithgow is a seemingly ordinary family man and child psychologist who actually has more secrets - and personalities - than most people have hot dinners. Brian De Palma's deliciously lurid, campy, pulpy early 90s thriller is still great fun, with a tour de force multiple turn from Lithgow.

Saw Raiders of the Lost Ark again last night, first time for a fair while. Absolutely fudging loved it! It looks absolutely AMAZING on Blu Ray on a bigger screen. I have NEVER seen it look so fantastic, and it's impossible to believe it's over 30 years old. And the film itself is as fantastic as ever. Glorious 80s action adventure at its wildest (Christ, what they got away with in a PG in the 80s - it'd be R rated in today's lame-ass world!). Simply one of the best movies ever made. Magic.

I went to see Les combattants on saturday.
It's such a treat to see a french film on the big screen, I too oft let that chance fly by when they're showing.

The film was decent, I quite enjoyed it and have no problem recommending it.
In no way groundbreaking though, but a nice feelgood young-identity-search film, with convincing characters and great atmosphere.
As I understood it was a directorial debut, which was kind of impressive, although it did fall into the traps of cliches at times.

And Dave's right about the camera loving Adele, even when portraying the masculine military-wannabe sort of character, as in this film.

She did a terrific piece of acting throughout the movie as well, the dynamic between the two young leads were the highpoint imo.
