If I were going to add a track to the soundtrack - LEGAL MP3

Postby my_haz » Sat Oct 08, 2005 10:12 am

Of course the movie was before this song came out, but if i was going to add a track to sound track, it would be after they get kicked out of the car. The simplicity of night and the complications of morning.

Legal MP3

interesting topic! but i believe there's been one like this, cant seem to find it though.

i like bright eyes! good song from the latest record i believe, lyrics fit surprisingly well, but it just doesnt sound nineties like the rest of the soundtrack in my opinion.

i'd go for a Bob Hund song, probably Jag Tror Jag Är Kär or Tralala Lilla Molntuss. correct me if i'm wrong, but Jag Tror Jag Är Kär means "I guess I'm in love with you" and Tralala Lilla Molntuss means Tralala Little Honey, and I believe he sings something like "come on over here and give me a kiss". really different from Bright Eyes!

I feel bad

Postby my_haz » Sat Oct 08, 2005 2:43 pm

I feel bad you know my song i suggested but i don't know the ones you mentioned! I will look for them and then reply. But to go a bit of a tangent to the topic.

You say in regards to Bright Eyes

"""
but it just doesnt sound nineties
"""

Which i _do_ agree with, but what time period does Bright Eyes really fit into? It sort of a folky sound, but doesn't sound that old, its not really 00' flavor emmo/indie sounding, except that most people bend those two terms to there own personal opions. So what do you think Bright Eyes sounds like? Is it really _Todays_ music?

Another artist that has this same, sort of (dare i say it) timeless sound. Is greatlakeswimmers. ( http://www.greatlakeswimmers.com/ ) if you have not heard him before then you should check it out, he also had a free download of a song or two on his site, you may look for "Moving Pictures, Silent Films"

Interesting point, good choice! :)

However, from the same album, I'd choose this one - "First Day of My Life" - for the O'boy-scene. Think it'd work absolutely perfectly, they should sing it together... (sorry, no MP3):

"Yours is the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
Don't know where I am, don't know where I've been
But I know where I want to go
So I thought I'd let you know
That these things take forever, I especially am slow
But I realized that I need you
And I wondered if I could come home
(...)
And you said, "This is the first day of my life
I'm glad I didn't die before I met you
Now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you
And I'd probably be happy"
So if you wanna be with me
With these things there's no telling
We'll just have to wait and see
But I'd rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery
Besides, maybe this time it's different
I mean I really think you like me.

Well i can't 100% agree with your choice of songs, because one i don't like it as much as Lua ;) . And more importantly as you may have guessed from my first choice of songs, I feel that there love will be a very fleeting one. "First Day of My Life" seems more like a song about everything falling into place just perfectly. Is that really what happens in FA and after?

Well, you're asking the most difficult question as if there was an easy answer to it  ! But if you want to hear my opinion, in the short version: yes. (For the longer version, follow my www-link, but bring enough of time...) There's no contradiction between everything perfectly falling into place now (which is the case in FÅ) and the thought that this state may be a fleeting one. And for all its optimism, the song expresses exactly that, with all its "maybe"s and "probably"s:

"So if you wanna be with me
With these things there's no telling
We'll just have to wait and see
"

I think it fits supremely well.

hey!

and now I agree with you, Bright Eyes' folk songs are kind of timeless I guess.

anyway, I've uploaded one of my Bob Hund mp3's "Jag Tror Jag Ar Kar" i 'chose'. Don't know if it's legal though, we'll find out soon enough. I'm curious about what you think of my choice!

And the song "Underground" by Broder Daniel, used by Moodyson when Agnes en Elin step out of the toilet: it's the best choice ever! The song features this line "yeah we look so good, we look so good, we look so good together"! And it's really cheap and simple, but that's kind of what the film is too (simple I mean).

Well listen to the song at ....(edited)
I hope it works!

And once again i've to say i like this topic.

The truth is, i can't really give an unbiased opinion of what it think of this song in FA, as i just like the song to darn much, so of course i want it on the soundtrack! I would have to agree that it would make better credit music, then "show me love"

@robin - don't worry i will comment on your song two, but let me listen to it a few times, and then i will be able to comment in a day or two (after it sinks in).

hey buddy, you talkin' to me?

i don't know this song, i will try to get my hands on it... anyway, i don't think i will create a video anytime soon. As far as I have heard bright eyes' music, I'm not too enthusiastic about it, sorry. On the other hand, maybe I just have to get used to his voice.

well i have to say that it is a good song, and fits with the mood, but for one thing that makes 100% not the right song for the movie, and thats the hand drums in the backgroud, take them out and then i think it fits rather well.

cool song!

This is a very old discussion, but in the meantime I believe I have discovered the song for FÅ, and I want to share it with you. The words say what the love between Agnes and Elin is all about just perfectly. It's old, even an old favourite of mine, but sometimes you just don't see the connections. Talking about "I'll Be Your Mirror" by the Velvet Underground (also surely the kind of music that Lukas would have liked to be in the film). It's a short song and the words go like this:

When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you’re twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
’cause I see you

I find it hard to believe you don’t know
The beauty that you are
But if you don’t, let me be your eyes
A hand in your darkness, so you won’t be afraid

I’ll be your mirror, reflect what you are
In case you don’t know
I’ll be the wind, the rain and the sunset
The light on your door to show that you’re home

I would add instead of some crappy songs of Broder Daniel or some ''classical music'' some tracks like somethin from Aqua,Bubbels,Caramell,Bambee and so on. :P
