I still can't get over the way l'Acquart Extraordinaire looks different in nearly every pic [and yet is always immediately recognisable]. I associate this with another thing I keep saying  - that the conventionally attractive person nearly always looks, well, just like that; but the extremely beautiful person often has certain angles from which they are a bit grotesque, or even ugly.

Or even simply breathtaking.

Know what you mean though.
So much that's taken for beauty today is very formulaic according to the rules set down my the Hollywood moguls. :r
Occasionally, like a breath of fresh air, that mould is broken. *:)*

I first saw Tomboy last year, and I know its available on DVD now. It's quite modest in comparison to the cinematic ambition of NdP, but nonetheless very enjoyable. Like NdP it has its funny moments, and its heartbreaking ones as well. The chief asset is the very young group of actors that Celine coaxed excellent naturalistic performances from. I was a little disappointed that the only musical contribution from Para One was the title music, unlike the extensive use of his incidental music in NdP. Perhaps not one to keep you going back to it regularly, but definitely one to see if it comes your way.

I realised last night that part [and it is only a part] of the reason for my hypnotic fascination with Pauline is that she is very like a signal person in my life, from 30 years ago; a girl I was painfully obsessed with for a long time, in a disastrous relationship that nonetheless woke me up to certain, uh, issues that I hadn't been confronting.

I had idly noticed the physical resemblance before, but it turns out she has the same Sun, Moon [and probably Ascendant] signs too!

Dunno about buying Videos Francaises in the USA, sorry - Ebay, Amazon?

IIRC Tomboy was done in a month, blam blam blam...? I think Celine wanted to show that NdP wasn't the sum of her potentials, and I won't be a bit surprised if she brought the same compassion, delicacy and unsparing honesty with edgy material to Tomboy that she demonstrated in NdP. I look forward to the scifi thing she's apparently writing for someone else.

Well, thanks for sharing that with us Dave. :Y You are certainly not alone. :N As I have mentioned on here before. I have felt to be in the Marie position before, although, for me the context was Equestrianism rather than synchonised swimming. But there again, truthfully, I have behaved like a Floriane sometimes. I don't know. Sometmes It's just easy to drift into the role that others expect of you. Here, I am the Forum Idiot. I am happy to be that. *:)* It's better than being the Forum Badass that was wrongly ascribed to me on wti.

I always thought of you more as the forum mascot, snaps. :P

It's an interesting thought, isn't it, what attracts us to someone. I know that pretty much all of the girls I go for throughout my life all kind of fit the "cute, short, petite, darkhaired" model. There may be a variant in hair colour permitted (Alex, Emma) but generally speaking that's what its been since the very first RL girl I ever had a serious crush on... so does that mean it's all her fault ( ) or is just simply a "type"?

Mind you, does it even really matter? :?: :?

Bummer.
It seems to have crashed completely for me, all I get is a "not found" error. :(

Can anyone who isn't blind like me please tell me if both girls have their eyes closed in this pic? 8)

And a question.... Did I post somewhere on here saying the complete NdP had been posted on Youtube in a 1hr 20min clip?
I thought I had but now I can't find the post.
I remember saying that anyone wanting it should rush 'cause I didn't expect it to stay long, but as of today it's still there. *:)*

Looks like sweetgirl is remodelling the xoxopa blog to cover French actresses in general, because of the low news volume for Pauline.

Though the critics loved NdP, the US/UK public stayed away in droves, terrified no doubt by the prospect of having to read subtitles, and so the box-office bottom line there was apparently disappointing. Hopefully as the film's rep spreads this will be augmented by DVD sales [and anyway it was apparently well received in France, a huge market in itself].

My somewhat laboured point being that it's already recouped its budget, and acquired massive cred, so removing it from YT is only lost advertising/exposure/DVD sales...?
