Went out on the golf course today and for the first time in a week or so the sky was blue, instead of a dirty smoke colour.
Didn't help my game at all but hopefully it means the firefighters are getting on top of things. 8)

Have a great Christmas.
I expect I'll be back on the 26th or 27th. *:)* :W

Unfortunately it seems that good soaking rain is all that will end the situation, and forecasts are saying that's a long way off.

More tragedies are unfolding daily with many homes and businesses being destroyed.

@fish, no kidding: be careful. The stories I am reading are downright scary. Flash fire advances and smoking cars and houses. Not good at all.

Hi gkmoberg1. :W
Great to hear from you. *:)*

In the suburbs west of Sydney CBD yesterday the temperature reached 48.9°C.
So glad I wasn't there. *:|*

In my home state South Australia, Kangaroo Island seems to be burning pretty much out of control.
Two more fatalities yesterday.
Heartbreaking.

Cooler conditions across South Eastern Australia today, even a little rain, but not enough to put out any fires.

We can only hope for a reprieve in the near future.

Another rotten day in South Australia.
40°C plus with winds over 60 kms/hr.

And to top it all off, the fires on Kangaroo Island are once again out of control.
The small towns of Parndarna and Vivonne Bay have been evacuated as they can't be defended.

I love Kangaroo Island, it's a beautiful place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kangaroo_Island
Third largest island in Australia.
Plenty of wilderness, lovely scenery very pretty little towns to visit.
Sadly now being destroyed in the fires.

That's all I can post today I'm afraid, very sad day what with the fires, and to top it off my cousin has passed away after a lengthy illness.

Try to be back tomorrow. :W

Thanks mate.

There was to be a cool change and some rain overnight, but the change in wind direction just brought all the KI smoke over to Adelaide.
Still warm and very irritating to the eyes & nose.
The rain was almost non existent and now there are several more small towns which have been evacuated.
Kingscote was one of the "safe" towns that people could go to for refuge but from what I heard today people there are sheltering on the beach.

Not a nice situation I'm afraid.

Feeling pretty crap today I'm afraid.
My cousin's death has affected me more than I anticipated and now I'm having these blasted computer issues....
I just want to go and hide from the world.

The funeral's not till Friday, but I hope I'm feeling good enough to be back before then. :W

Thinking about Oz, hoping you guys [read: everyone, really] will be OK, and also hoping the people will hold the G to account over this.

And much else, from what I gather.

I hope this climate-change denying government get what they deserve.
And the Murdoch press has to share the blame as well, though it wouldn't surprise me at all if Murdoch orchestrates a full on campaign to get Morrison elected again next time.
They're both evil bastards.

Billions with a "B" animals killed in the fires.
Thousands of houses and businesses.
Dozens of people, mainly firefighters, killed too.
And yet still pathetically inadequate response from Gov't.

Fires have been burning for around six months now, and while some rain is forecast for the eastern states, in South Aus there's zero.
So dry, it's tragic.

Anyway, thanks for your words David.
It means a lot to know we're not alone.

And the Australian government wants to use accounting tricks to pretend we're reducing CO2 emissions.
Lying bastards.
They ignore protests from home.
I think they need international sanctions to make them actually do something. :x

Anyway.
I've been catching up with people I haven't seen in ages, but I hope to be more reliable in future. :W
