I hate Swedish aloof smarmy-marmyness. They trade in on the talents of a few. Most of them couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, and yet they project this suave self-confidence. SAAB ISN''T owned by the Swedish. VOLVO ISN''T owned by the Swedish. IKEA is owned by a Dutch holding company.

This is because of the times we live in with the economic globalization

Both Saab and Volvo were originally very successful and technologically innovative companies owned and run by people in Sweden

It's only in recent years this has changed, as it is with companies in many other western countries

Ikea is still owned by it's founder, the 85 year old Ingvar Kamprad

This company isn't on the stock market and therefore it has retained a greater independence, but because of tax reasons it has a complicated owner structure, otherwise it wouldn't have survived the way it has

The incompetence of Telstra. They came on our street yesterday morning to connect up a neighbour with the internet. And have managed to successfulyl disconnect us in the process.
Have been without the net since (at the library at the moment), Supposedly coming to fix it "sometime" this afternoon.

It's alright, it's not my sodding job or anything.

Err, you did say this was your back didn't you?

I've been steaming the last 2 days. One of our neighbours has a Telstra van over Thursday morning to connect them up... and our sodding phone goes dead. Had to traipse out to the library to do a bare minimum of work (you're not allowed to stay on long enough to cover all the stuff I have to do). Still dead in the afternoon. Ring 'em up, they say someone'll come to fix it between 1 and 5... on FRIDAY.

1-5 Friday (after having to again traipse out to the library to do a bare minimum of work). No one comes. No one fixes it. Still dead. Ring 'em up, they tell me a technician is working on at then and just hasn't fixed it. By nighttime its still dead.
By morning its still dead. Ring 'em up again, and they tell me it could be "by close of business Monday" to get it fixed. Well, I'm afraid I lost the plot and gave them a right bollocking. I told them it wasn't good enough and they'd better get their ass round and fix it TODAY, not by close of business Monday, or we'll be seeking a different service provider.

Less than 2 hours later a van pulls up outside our house and the guy takes about 10 minutes to fix it.




(deep breath)

But I'm back. And jesus, I took a look at this place this morning at an internet cafe (only had about 5 minutes so I couldn't do much) and went .
