Watched Ginger Snaps at last. The dvd finally arrived (together with Rent which I'll watch soon.)
Now Ginger is seriously not well and I thought someone might have noticed the extra dentistry, but this is a really good film. There's a lot of AWIL about it with the horror/fun stuff and all, and more than enough gore to keep the Wes Craven fans happy. Add to that a couple of cute punk/goth/emo (or whatever they're called these days) girls and you're sure to have a hit. Loved it. :D

Glad you liked it. I really liked the balance in it. The more you watch it the more you pick up on the funny lines. My favourite is when she starts *leaking* and says to her sister ''OMG I'm gonna die!!" which is very funny given the goth build-up and emo tendencies she has.

I'm sure I missed heaps but I did catch that one.
I think I'll have to watch it again in the next few days. Should give me a better chance to catch some of those I missed.

(by the way, did you do the Hindi - English translation?)

Yeah, GS is pretty good. Haven't seen it for years and years, though, for some reason. Will have to rectify that soon. Interestingly, both the female leads have guest roles in the fith season of The X Files (different episodes, though, unfortunately! )

Classic 1989 episode of The Bill, with the head of an anti-corruption squad using their "sweeping powers" to try and settle an old score - by framing DI Burnside. Very strong episode. Oh, those were the days!

Watched "Rent". A movie adaptation of the stage musical. Set in a bohemian district of New York in 1988-90. Operatic in that it uses song to tell most of the story with only relatively brief bits of talk.

Only one word to describe it. Absolutely brilliant. (Oh all right then, two words)

Highly recommended.

Here's a clip I posted somewhere before.

No. I got it from HMV its release on DVD in UK was 3rd August. It's no more expensive (at 14quid) than a lot of other new releases. Plus it has a an additional complete ''walk through'' version of the film with the Director and Writer discussing (in English) the technical aspects, plus deleted scenes etc. Makes you appreciate how much went into it, e.g. 1,000 kids were auditioned for the various roles.

Cool. Hopefully that'll be the version we get when it gets a local release (whenever that happens). It better be.

Saw the Doctor Who story "Vengeance On Varos" again last night. Not great, but still pretty good. Flawed, certainly - it's very stagey and rather statically directed, and the pacing is a bit...lacksaidaisical (esp in part 1) but in it's favour it's got a smart script with a fascinatingly dark satirical edge (the 20 years before its time reality tv parody, with televised torture and executions and "public votes"(!)), some fantastically loathsome bad guys and some good performances from Martin Jarvis and Nabil Shaban. Good solid Who.

Ashes to Ashes, episode 1. Hmm, not that impressed as yet. Not a patch on Life on Mars so far, and Keeley Hawes sure ain't no John Simm.

X Files: Small Potatoes. The one with the fat loser who can make himself look like anyone. So he impersonates Mulder and almost gets off with Scully!

The mind wobbles! :P

Yesterday there was an old re-re-run of a Third Rock from the Sun episode in which Dick went to Fat Losers to try and lose some weight. In the end he discovered the solution, he bought bigger pants.
