Ashes to Ashes, episode 2. A distinct improvement over episode 1. May end up being worth watching after all.

Doctor Who, an episode called "Blink".
Ian seems to cover DW but this one was on pay tv last night and the bad guys were acually scary.
Evil looking stone statues of angels hiding their eyes. Claws, pointy teeth, the lot. Could only move if no other living creature was watching them.
Don't take your eyes off them, not even to blink.

Yeah, that's one of the better episodes of the new series. Written by Steven Moffat, probably the best current writer on the show and who is taking over as head writer/new exec producer next year. He also did the brilliant Press Gang back in the day, and most recently the updated "Jekyll" mini-series thingy.

My dvd of the Who story "Remembrance of the Daleks" Special Edition came today. Originally came out in the early 00s, one of the first dvds released, and was a bit of a botch-up. They (somehow) "left out" some of the special effects  on the Brit PAL one, redid it for the US NTSC version but wouldn't redo the PAL one, so we in Australia got the NTSC one, with a pretty bad transfer. It also had background music (Beatles) changed for copyright reasons, and a distinct lack of extras. So it's now been redone, with the fx fixed, a new remastered transfer, the right music (at least on the UK version) and a swathe of extras, including several new documentaries. Very nice. Made me very nostalgic for the late 80s too. Oh dear, you can tell I'm getting old!

Got a good deal on a 2-pack of Nicole Kidman films, "Cold Mountain" which I've seen a few times, excellent movie, and "The Others" which I saw once a few years ago. Watched "The Others" again last night.

A ghost story like you've never seen before, very spooky, very good, lots of suspense. Made in 2001, set in 1945 on an island off the English coast. Cameos by Christopher Ecclestone (a former Doctor Who) and Keith Allen (Lou from Bear's Kiss). Also has Eric Sykes playing a very creepy role.

Well worth the money. 8)

Yeah, The Others was pretty good. Shows you how long ago it was since I saw it, though, don't remember Keith Allen being in it at all. Who was he in it?

At the seance, Keith was Mr Marlish the husband, Victor's father.
Not a big role, just a cameo.

Ah, okay.

Watched the first 3 eps of season 4 of Roseanne last night. Been SO long since I've seen it. Still great comedy. I used to have such a crush on Sara Gilbert once upon a time... 8)

Futurama season 2. Funny. Bender's the best, though, of course. I saw on YouTube a spoof of those annoying "You Wouldn't Steal a Car" copyright ads, with Bender stealing everything in sight. "Yes I would!"

A DVD on Children with ADD/ADDH. Interesting to me, but probably boring to you all.

Watched the extras on the Doctor Who - Black Guardian Trilogy boxset last night. Good stuff, and certainly whetted my appetite for rewatching the three stories again proper.

Not at all. Children with special needs is a subject close to my heart, for obvious reasons.

My long lost/loaned copies of "Sugar Rush" were returned to me yesterday so I started watching series 1 again. Made me realise just how good the show is.

Ashes to Ashes was pretty lame again this week. Not impressed so far.

Saw eps 2 and 3 of season 3 of Dexter last night. Very good, just had to get going again, I guess. :D

Saw Doctor Who - Mawdryn Undead again last night. Still very good indeed. Nice to see it looking all shiny on dvd. My only annoyance is the "additional CGI effects", or rather it's effect on my dvd player - even when turned off, and I'm seeing the old effects, a little symbol keeps appearing at the top of my screen every time one was due! WTF?!?!?! :T
