Warlock. Campy 80s comic-horror cult classic with Julian Sands as an evil warlock trying to destroy the world, and Richard E Grant as a 16th century witch hunter who's followed him to the future to stop him. Still good fun.

Sliding Doors. Gywneth Paltrow is adorable (I particularly like her as a brunette :)P ) in this entertaining "high concept" rom-com.

That's one of those "alternate future" films, isn't it?

What would/could have happened if I'd missed the train sort of thing. I like them.

And I agree about Gwyneth. :)P

X-Men. Good fun. Worth it for Anna Paquin. :)P

Killer Klowns from outer Space. Seriously bizarre comic horror 80s cult classic. Memorable turn from John Vernon as the unspeakably malevolent local cop who hates all students!

I shudder to think.

Found "The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls" on one of the movie channels last night.
Nothing much else on so I watched even though I don't particularly like country music..

A documentary about a pair of 50 odd year old twins from New Zealand.
What can I say that wasn't said in the OutFest review.
"If you see only one documentary about lesbian, country-singing, comedian twins from New Zealand, make this the one! Jools and Linda Topp have become phenomenally successful among the Kiwis for the sprightly combination of comical characters and catchy ditties, and this exuberant film captures the joy they bring both to their performance and to their daily lives. If you aren't already a Topp Twins fans, you'll be one by the end of this delightful doc."

Brilliant.
Moving, funny, tears at times, just brilliant. I'm now a fan. *:)* *:)*

Just Friends. Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart star in this hugely enjoyable romantic comedy. In high school, Reynolds was a fat dweeb in love with his best friend (Smart). After a humiliating rejection, he flees town. 10 years on he's remade himself as a slim, successful Hollywood agent but when fate conspires to strand him back in his home town, he finds himself back in her orbit and still in love with her... yet somehow still unable to come across as anything other than a hopeless dweeb. This is a really funny movie with a scene stealing turn from Anna Faris as a psychotic Hollywood starlet.

I just watched Room In Rome (***) last night and thought it was quite good. I can't really articulate my thoughts on the film well without making it seem trite. Suffice it to say that the film was erotic without being cheap or sleazy. My primary recurring thought was a simple one - passion. I haven't seen too many films handle intensely passionate emotions so gracefully. My wife and I both enjoyed it.

Dead End. Twin Peaks legend Ray Wise heads the cast of this supernatural chiller. A family heading cross country to spend Thanksgiving with the in-laws take a wrong turn and find themselves on a never-ending road to nowhere, haunted by a ghostly "lady in white" and a spectral black car that begins hunting them down one by one. This spooky little low-budget chiller makes a virtue of its small cast, with a mounting sense of claustrophobia and rising hysteria mixing with some very dark humour and doing a remarkable job of creating the real feel of a nightmare. Very good.
