Saw Never Let Me Go last night. Excellent, but incredibly depressing! I love Carey Mulligan - hasn't she got the most incredibly soulful eyes?!

Very powerful and very well done, but I don't know if I'd want to watch it again. Too heartbreaking for little old me.

Watched Contact with Jodie Foster last night. I am always amazed that this film based on a book by Carl Sagan can have so much to say about matters of faith, considering Sagan was a vocal agnostic.

Before that I watched For All Mankind, a 1989 documentary that chronicles the Apollo missions to the Moon between 1968-1972. It's comprised of all NASA footage and features voiceovers by the astronauts themselves, with a wonderful and moody score by Brian Eno. It was spectacular.

Contact was good. I enjoyed that.
And Jodie is :)P .

I haven't seen For All Mankind but I'm a bit of a science geek and I love doco's to do with things like the space program. Good stuff. *:)*

For All Mankind is different in that it's pretty much all about the visuals. There's very little in the way of technical explanations and big-picture narrative. It's pretty much the actual images and sounds with the astronauts describing things in voiceover on occasion. But if you are a science geek, you should see this. It's really tremendous.

Älska mig / Sweden / 2009

From the beginning it was very similar to the Fucking Amal. It reminded me of just about everything, I even waited lesbian love again (mainly because of the views of the main girls) I even sometimes seemed that the figure of Alice's face or looking at certain moments as Agnes in the FA. Fortunately it wasn´t mean this way. It was actually the same thing, just today - the latest period (fashion). I thought - this would have happened if Agnes went to the party - even though there went Alice (Agnes) alone and not with Josse (Elin) so anyway in the FA Elin Agnes perhaps the party ultimately rejected for not dropping in front of classmates, just as it eventually did Josse in this film - did not stand up to Alice and let her get away. Even suicide then continued as in FA, except that here it was the first train and Alice did. Indeed, died and then her classmates were at the funeral. At first I thought it so will, but something happened there with her sister or what ... well look it. Finally, if returned time and Josse finally released her with a boy and saved her life. Even a little bit of Water lilies there:-D pool - saving, etc. It was not bad, if only because I could see better (thanks to HD resolution and excellent quality of picture and sound) school environment in Sweden. There were a few nice shots of the surroundings. And I like more individual words differed. Of course I can not Swedish, but it was inferred total... plus a few dirty words I already know from the FA :-D, and those there were really quite much. What bothered me but a lot of the music. First, the sound was very pushy - effects, etc. and also all the songs were very loud and I just sensed it too. While at the FA I have seen up to several times in the movie and it can hardly not notice - which is good and should be so. Overall, I evaluated the film into a decent average. :)

My Friend From Faro

Image

A German film with English sub-titles.

A lot like "Boys Don't Cry" but without the tragic ending.

Very good.

It really looks like a remake of Boys Do not Cry. But here the girl (boy) at least looks good in contrast to American film. Boys Do not Cry I saw with my class at high school in the cinema. The girl dressed as a boy seemed very strange I would said nearly as psychopathic. Even today I think. Too bad we did not go rather on Fucking Amal than Boys Do not Cry. Then while watching the movie we all laughed quietly and we were embarrassed of it. I think if I saw the FA then so I would not laugh at all (except the funny scenes of course :) ) and would rather my heart sang quietly pleased (in cinema) that it's such a great movie. And others would also definitely liked it. :D In Arts high school just to have these issues quite liberal and docile. At Arts high school we takes it a completely different way than for example in the classical high school / grammar school. Where would two lesbians finger pointing and bullying them. In us school we had two girls as a couple and never strange it to us and it did not so horrible. Quite blend them together. But that's off topic. This movie looks pretty good.
