Anyone know a good, free, easy way to cut bits out of long vids?
Must be suitable for a person of low intellect.
I have a few scenes from various films I'd like to giffercise but I'm afraid I've never sliced a film into bits before.

You could try VLMC, by the makers of the excellent VLC...?

Come to think of it, you can capture chunks of any video stream in VLC itself [though not all that precisely].

I have VLC as my vid player already.
Ideally I'd like to save little bits of DVD's I already own, and make gifs from them.
The quality would be much better than most downloads I've seen.

Must be some simple way of doing it.

Look at your VLC control options...go to Tools > Customise Interface > Toolbars Editor > Main Toolbar tab.

That's the play control bar you see in the main window; you can add buttons for Record, Loop A-B, Snapshot, etc...you'll figure it out

PS there's also a freeware video editor called AviDemux, if you don't like VLMC...and quite a few DVD burners come with simple video editors too, might be worth looking through your installation disks etc.

Billionaire is probably in post-production, and due to its daring, semi-animated premise may be presenting unforeseen problems in the 'look' of the thing...or so I speculate, anyway.

I was last in touch with him a few months ago about the Billionaire site that was to be launched back in January.
He said the woman who was doing it had become very ill but that he hoped he could find someone to take it over.
Apparently not.
He also said the post prod was filling just about all his time, but still expected to complete it later in the year.
I guess all the re-posts and stuff he does on Facbok are just his way of unwinding from all the w*rk he's doing.

Still, he's probably a bit chuffed that we're getting impatient.

Look at your VLC control options...

It downloaded the file as an mpeg rather than an mp4 so the gif maker didn't recognise it, so I found another one which would, but it stuffed up the aspect ratio, so I loaded that gif onto my original gif maker and played around with it a bit and right now I need to go and have a lie down.

Hopefully it'll be good to go tomorrow.

Once you have the VLC clip you want [in any format], you can change it to .gif with another freeware called Format Factory, btw.

I think I've never seen the video with the ball. Where is it from? Is it on the DVD (or from promo)?

And could you make a gif from Perdu d'avance one day, please (not something too crude)? I don't know if you're bound by a promise for this one.

I can see it, but I haven't posted the gif yet.

Can't do it today either as I'm about to go out for the day, though I did manage to make a small and not very good gif from Perdu d'avance for Owen.
I'll make more soon if you like them.
