Alice, Sweet Alice. Alice is a troubled and difficult 12 year old girl, jealous of her prettier younger sister and resentful of her judgmental, overbearing aunt. So when her sister is murdered and her aunt attacked by a masked figure wielding a knife, Alice soon becomes prime suspect. But is it really Alice's face behind the killer's mask? This mid 70s horror thriller, clearly influenced by the Italian "giallo" horror genre, was actually a pretty effective mystery chiller. You know all bets are off and a film means business when an innocent little girl (Brooke Shields in her film debut) is the first to get offed, and this unpredictability extends through the rest of the film. The killer reveal, for instance, comes not in the climax but about 25 minutes earlier, allowing for the suspense of wondering when and how they'll get caught, and the tension of an innocent character being in their presence and oblivious to the danger they're in. This was a pretty solid flick, actually, I rather enjoyed it. :D

The Stepfather. Terry O'Quinn is a man obsessed with having the perfect idealised family - and he moves from single mother to single mother, marrying them and then slaughtering the entire family and moving on when the reality fails to live up to the fantasy. The lovely Jill Schoelen is Stephanie, the teenage girl who senses something dark and dangerous behind her new stepfather's cheery Father Knows Best facade. This mid 80s thriller is still a classic chiller! :D

I hate "celebrity TV". :x

I have HBO as part of my pay TV package.
There are some good series on it.
"Gentleman Jack" was good.
And "Game of Thrones" was the very best. *:)*

But NO celebrity TV ever. :T

The New Mutants. A group of young mutants interred in an isolated hospital for safety until they can control their new abilities are joined by a new girl, after which each begins to experience terrifyingly real hallucinations of their worst nightmares - and begin to suspect the real reason for their incarceration may be anything but benign. Pretty much the only "new" movie I've seen this year bar Jumanji The Next Level at the cinema in January, this has looked interesting to me for a while, though reshoots and poor reviews rather dissuaded my enthusiasm. But I blind bought it anyway and I'm actually glad I did. This makes a refreshing change from the usual comic book fare, being more of a thriller/horror set in the X-Men universe and often feeling more like a late 90s teen horror than the usual, though we still have to have CGI overload in the climax (of course). But overall I found the cast, characters and story engaging, and at 90 minutes (the last 5 of which are credits) it doesn't have time to get dull or hang around too long. And I rather liked the little love story between Maisie Williams and the lead girl, which was sweet but understated and just there and not made a song and dance about. I enjoyed this far more than I expected. :D

Die Hard. They say it's not Christmas until you've seen Hans Gruber fall off Nakotomi Tower, so what better way to kick off my festive movie season than with this classic 1988 action flick as Bruce Willis takes on Alan Rickman and a whole bunch of guntoting "terrorists" on Christmas Eve. I thoroughly enjoyed this, still a classic, and you know what? I do feel more festive already! :D *:)*

I am looking for a movie I saw a long time ago of two American soldiers who are welcomed by an Asian people, try to escape and one of them tries to rape a girl from the village and the other does not let him. Then the boy and the girl fall in love,
Do you know what movie is?

I've no idea. It's not Casualties of War, is it?

Go. A group of young people trying to have a good time get into some serious scrapes on Christmas Eve in this late 90s youth comedy-drama. Haven't seen this in like 11 years but still a lot of fun, bouyed by the lovely Katie Holmes and Sarah Polley. PQ was surprisingly decent for a nearly 20-year old DVD, which frankly I half-expected to not even play properly! :D

Imagine Me & You. A young woman (Piper Perabo) thinks she's happy marrying her best friend, only to start becoming powerfully and unexpectedly attracted to someone else at her wedding - another woman (Lena Headey). This mid 2000s romantic comedy is lightweight but amusing and sweet enough to pass muster, and Buffy's Anthony Head is funny as Perabo's zoned-out dad. :)

Annabelle Comes Home. It's a bit lame, innit? And it's kind of a shame cause the set-up is good, the atmosphere is good and the cast/characters are very likeable and watchable, but what really lets is down is the last act, which should be the scariest part but is actually... kinda boring. Eh.

The Thing. The crew of an Antarctic base come under assault from a shapeshifting extraterrestrial entity in this early 80s John Carpenter chiller that has stood the test of time very well. Kurt Russell is suitably badass as the no-nonsense loner who takes no crap from anyone, including alien nasties.

I have seen the 2 movies. The old one in black and white and the one from a few years ago. *:)*
Very good idea and very well done both.
The end of the film is the very human essence of self-destruction.

Hush. A maniac killer targets a young deaf woman living alone in the country in this mid 2010s horror thriller from Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Doctor Sleep). A lean and efficient thrill ride, with a very intense and visceral climactic showdown between the overly confident killer and a woman who will not be going down without one hell of a fight.
