Still no review, but I found this bit about Astro's background.

"Astro is the leading character in the feature, a dormant star coming to life when touched by love and the arts in the magical city of Rio de Janeiro. It is vital to acknowledge her origins and trajectory in order to fully comprehend the process of her transformation. Astro’s parents met at a carnival in Rio at the end of the 80’s. Her Brazilian mother was 19, her Swedish father was 40. It was another one of those lightning romances that could, perhaps, be erased from memory, if only Astro’s mother hadn’t become pregnant. She goes to Sweden. Astro’s father lives in a small island in which the sun shines for only a few hours a day, during most of the year. The Swede had grown fond of the Brazilian girl, and the child also seemed to be exactly what he was waiting for to give new direction to his life, so they marry.

When Astro was 6 years old, on a Saturday in which the sun came out and it was warm, mother and daughter go for walk. The mother, unaware of the thaw, falls through the cracking ice into the icy water and dies. Astro’s father takes charge of bringing her up. Sometime later, he too passes away, and one day, Astro receives a phone call saying that her mother’s father also died leaving a house for her in his will. She must now go to Rio de Janeiro to sort out all the paperwork. Astro’s mother was an only child and her grand-mother was no longer alive either. Astro leaves the cold Nothern Hemisphere for the warmth of the Southern Hemisphere. And this is where the feature begins…"
