I think the last two winters were really cold in all of western and middle/east europe

But this year have been mild so far, so no problems at all

Further east (Russia) it's been cold apparently, as Kso said, but maybe winters are always severe there?

Anyway, you can always stay indoors, in Sweden we have properly isolated houses and heating, doesn't matter much if the temperature falls

They say the standard in England is really bad though with chilly unisolated buildings, is this true?

I think extreme heat like Australia must be exhausting, but maybe you get used to it?

You have air condition in most places I suppose?

In Adelaide we don't get much "cold" weather. It might get down to 1 or 2C on a winter's night, but even then a "cold" day still gets up to 10 or 12C. The winter average maximum is probably about 14-15C. Summer's the big thing here when we have lots of mid 30's C with occasional heat waves of a week or so in the 40's C.
I'm very glad I have plenty of insulation and ducted refrigerated air conditioning at those times.
But the power bills.

I think this probably is true, especially in older buildings and poor-quality breeze-block-based 'modern' housing, though many more places now have cavity insulation and double-glazing as standard.

Maybe Britain is a bit more "old fashioned" so to speak, than for example Scandinavia which generally probably has a more modern standard

We too have problems with crime, immigration and those things though

And an overall politically correct attitude among politicians and the media

Most of the western world is like that, same everywhere

Stupid Australian post service. DVD set I bought from within oz last week still hasn't arrived; tonight I get an email from the ebay shop I bought it from to say they've just delivered it back to them for no appraent reason!

Now it'll be another bloody week. How thick can you get?!

effing Inland Revenue. I've been given an extension to 15th Feb, but until my return is cleared, I'm technically being fined £100 per day with effect from 1st February. I don't even earn £100 per day. Barstewards.

Also the local Public Library. I come in here because it's warm and doesn't cost me in heating. I'm OK if I type in fucking-amal but if I type in Fucking Amal it sets off signals in the I.T. section at City Council. Fcukers!!
