So I've heard. After 21 years away it really startles - and shows me how detached I have become from the UK - when I hear things like that. I had no idea till this week that there was still no Sunday trading in the UK either!

Take shelter- a great film with Micheal shannon playing a family man who imagines the end of the world. Very good central performance from shannon.

Shame- Micheal fassbender/steve Mcqueen follow up from Hunger, Fassbender playing a Sex addict and carey mullingan as his sucidial sister, very tough watch but a great performance from Fassbender.

Warrior-Tom Hardy aka Bane from Dark Knight rises as a MMA fighter trying to win a tourenment as well as trying to get along with his father and brother.

Ratings:

Take shelter 8/10
Shame 9/10
Warrior 10/10

Sons & Daughters. Faced with the near-certainty of 10-15 years in prison, Leigh chooses instead to throw herself in front of an oncoming truck. Still as upsetting as it was 25 years ago!  *:|*

Finished Community season 2. One of the best new comedies going. The 2part paintball finale was fantastic. I particularly liked the Western-homaging first part, and Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost) sending himself up as the "very handsome" mysterious "paintball assassin". Great stuff. :D

It is very good. :Y I tried to ration myself to watching no more than two episodes a day, (and almost succeeded) as Series I is a marathon watch. The TV series coming out of Scandinavia just get better and better. I strongly recommend this joint Danish/ Swedish production. The Bridge referred to is the Oresund which links Malmo (Lukas Moodysson's stomping ground) and Copenhagen. Very macabre, but with lots of dark humour as well. The crazy female Swedish detective leading the case is like a growed up version of Agnes.

Dollhouse season 1 final. Well, I have to say I was worried there. I thought the climactic "Alpha" 2parter was excellent, gripping stuff. The episode after that, though, with this sudden flashforward to a post-apocalyptic future ten years hence, was just completely nuts. I was actually worried for a moment there that they'd completely altered the entire format and premise of the show, but having just looked it up, that's not the case. I have to say, I'm glad, because I'm rather enjoying it (even with the knowledge that it's already cancelled as of two years ago). I was utterly baffled last night though! :T

I saw the Bridge before The Killing, although The Bridge was really great, the Killing is much more of a suspense. I also had the problem that I had to ration it to an episode a day, but I really wanted to watch the whole series at once. Funny thing is that in both series the female police officer is socially handicapped.
