What Are You Currently Watching (on tv/dvd)?

Doctor Who - Asylum of the Daleks last night (new series premiere). I thought that was a cracking episode for the most part. On the downside, I thought the whole Amy/Rory relationship crisis felt very forced; perhaps a sign that, as much as I've loved them, it is time for them to go. Aside from that, though, this was a fine episode, full of great moments and laden with menace. Very enjoyable. All in all, a great start to the season. While Moffat's Christmas specials may be even worse than RTDs (no mean feat for the most part) his season premieres are approximately a billion times better. Hope the rest of the season is of a similar quality.

Doctor Who - Dinosaurs on a Spaceship/A Town Called Mercy.

Dinosaurs: Laughably awful, and not in a good way. Truly painful to watch, it was so bad. The only redeeming feature was David Bradley (the 'orrible school caretaker in the Harry Potter fims), who was effectively scummy as the villain, but should have been given a much better story to be enjoyably punchable in than this mess. Dreadful.

Mercy: Not quite as bad as the above, but still not very good, with an intriguing first 10-15 minutes then getting very dull and obvious. After a decent premiere, the new season is not delivering so far.

Haven't watched "Mercy" yet. Can't wait.

It's a bit depressing, innit? They seem to have all the money in the world for fx and the like now, but finding good scripts is like... looking for meaning in a Pauly Shore film.

Yeah.
"Mercy" was pretty ordinary.

They all seem pretty aimless so far, after the last couple of series where they were all telling episodes in one long story I keep waiting for a link to appear to tie them all together.

Doctor Who - The Power of Three. Better than the last couple of eps, though not by much. It's all a bit familiar (the standard RTD era "worldwide crisis" mixed with "The Lodger" from series 5) and lacking, though it's passable enough. It's a nice touch to have the new overall head of UNIT be none other than the Brig's daughter and there's a nice scene between the Doctor and Amy, but little to get excited by. Still, next week's mid-season finale looks more like it - the Weeping Angels, River Song, real New York filming and Amy and Rory's final exit. Should be a blinder (hopefully).

Miami Vice season 1 to 4 the best years of the show Dark and downbeat at times but the music and the chemstry between the leads just gives it a coolness a lot 80's shows lacked

Lost season 2. I hate to say it, but it's not really working for me on re-viewing. Kinda boring actually. One of those shows you should really watch just the once maybe?

Had my brother over for a visit yesterday, and we decided to watch our favorit comedy from growing up, Monty Python and the Holy grail.
Must be like 8-10 years since I last saw this hilarious masterpiece, just so much fun.

I think it refers to the Arthurian legend of the Lady of the Lake, who stuck her arm out of the water one day and returned Arthur his lost sword Excalibur...or something like that, anyway.
