I'm still not joining Facebook!

I got 3/4 of the way through registering once, then stopped with a very bad feeling about it; and now [apparently] the only way to remove the partially-created account is to finish it off! - and even then, they will hang on to whatever details they feel like.

That, plus their fascist, supercilious attitude, and the now almost daily revelations of what exactly you 'agree' to by joining FB and using FB apps, makes them a big no-no, for yours truly at least.

Call me paranoid, it's true; especially where spook-loving creeps like these are concerned.

Insofar as a Liverpool street kid can approach gentility, I do what I can...

Since hostile observers might all too easily assume 'Dirty Old Man' motives on my part; since I'm old enough to be her grandfather, never mind father; and since my interest in l'Acquart Glorieuse is based on empathy rather than lust, on recognising myself at that age [especially, but not exclusively, in the character Marie], it does seem best to maintain a certain respect and decorum.

This doesn't exclude acknowledging and enjoying her extreme beauty, powerful presence, heartrending poignancy and general gorgeousness, because that would just be stupid, and hypocritical too.

It makes me very happy that, to judge by the 100+ views a day this thread currently gets, so many other people feel the same.

AGREED. No-one should question motives. If you are in the public eye, then you learn to distance yourself privately from what interpretation or significance others place upon you. Inwardly you are grateful for every acknowledgment of your awesomeness.

This is NOT the same as the saying ''There is no such thing as bad publicity''. That is the reserve of people who want to be famous for being famous, and will do anything to hit the headlines.

I totally agree. It is difficult for most of us to imagine what I feels like to achieve ''critical mass'' and be famous.

JENZiiH, the bass player in Seremedy has recently apologized to fans for turning off a function on his phone which allowed absolutely anyone to text him. It is unrealistic to believe that you have the number of hours in a day to read all the incoming, let alone respond to it.

I'm fairly sure the reason I've never had responses to artmedia and Koch Lorber emails has to do with company policies related to this.
