I watched the first 2 and a half eps (sadly all that's done so far) of (the missing first Troughton story) Power of the Daleks this afternoon (which I have never seen or even heard the soundtrack of before) via the talking/animated telesnaps on YouTube and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I've tried the standard telesnap recons before and can't seem to hack them, but these are very interesting. They use CrazyTalk Animator, with camera zooms/pans and animation techniques to make the telesnaps more visually interesting... and I have to say I think they work rather well. Bit weird, but much more watchable.
I was only going to watch the first episode today but was enjoying it so much I just carried on straight through, and I actually feel like I've seen nearly half of the story for real now - and it's excellent. I can see why it has such a lofty reputation. Really good, I hope the guy does the rest of the story (and more!)

How can someone make half an episode? :?

If I ever made half an episode of anything i'd cheat, and say it was a whole episode, just a bit shorter than usual. :T

Yeah, it's a bit annoying. I hope they do the rest, though it's been 10 months since the last update. I found just having a bit of movement and visual interest made it much more watchable, though. Looks like an excellent story too. :( I was surprised by quite how sinister Troughton seems at first - despite some humorous moments he's decidedly shifty, declines to name his companions when challenged (Ben doesn't believe he's really the Doctor at first) and even refers to his former self in the third person.

I dimly remember the original episode, and yes, PT was a VERY shifty Doctor indeed, of highly dubious morality.

One of the characters had to prevent him stoving in a Thal's head with a rock!

I did wonder, with all the CCTV surveillance going on, why they didn't put an extra camera in the tunnel. :T

 Dave. Don't worry. I just know more about that show than is probably healthy. :P

On that note, saw the Tom Baker story State of Decay again last night. Had almost forgotten just how much I love this one. Scary, funny and just blisteringly fun entertainment from start to finish. Tom and Lalla Ward are on fabulous form in this gloriously Gothic vampire tale. The music is fantastic, the villains are fantastically OTT and the cliffhanger to episode 3 has got to be one of the best ever. One of my all time favourites. Love it!!!!!!!!! :D

Was checking out The Thick Of It on YouTube last night after the casting of Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor Who. Looked very good (despite me somehow never having heard of it in spite of it winning numerous awards and running for 4 seasons  ) so I bought the boxset today. Took it to the counter at JB and the guy goes "Brushing up on the new Doctor, huh?"
