Long way from getting that right yet.
I'm finding it easier to convert movies to gifs but when they're slowed they look awful.

It can be, if you wish hard enough.

I didn't use VLC to slow the gif, I used it to slow the film and recorded the slowed bit.
Then I made the gif using.....http://ezgif.com/
When needed I converted the clip to MP4 using .....http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-gif (which doesn't make gifs as good as I'd like.)
