Last time I checked I did have a heart...

My day off from work today (and tomorrow), because of Queens day (and inauguration of our new Dutch King). Perfect day to watch Kyss mig for the first time? I read so much about it on this forum!

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. :)

And congratulations with new royalty. From the brief news report I saw, Willem-Alexander seems like a real 'people's king'.

I was always a bit 'yeah, yeah' about performance art, shock stuff blah blah, but this Marina Abramovic piece 'The Artist is Present' is pure magic.

The people's faces...the deep simplicity of the idea...the silence and stillness...the sheer effort involved...

The end of a long process of refinement, I think.

Yes, I watched all of it!!! Willem-Alexander is different from Beatrix, and is closer to the people than Beatrix was. Also queen Maxima is very popular.

@Fish: maybe this explains that I did not watch Kiss Me (yet). I've got the DVD, so soon there will be the right moment. :D

This evening we saw the latest Susanne Bier movie. It was very different from other Bier movies, but yet again really great.

Doctor Who - The Crimson Horror (warning: spoilers). Just to be different, I actually rather liked it. Some cringey NuHu bits but in general I found it a considerably more enjoyable tongue-in-cheek Gothic Victoriana than the cringey Snowmen effort (actually having the climax be a fight to the death rather than a pile of slushy crap helps wonders, to be blunt). I started off with my guard up ready for typical awfulness but found myself enjoying it and chuckling merrily by the end. Enjoyed the villainess staying thoroughly irredeemable all the way to the end and being defeated not by the power of lurve or some such crap but just by Strax shooting the bitch ! The daughter gruesomely squashing Mr Sweet made me laugh too. Clearly, Gatiss and I share the same sense of humor. ;)
Hardly likely to be in anyone's all-time top 50 but a lot of fun by series 7 standards. 6.5/10
The coda with Clara and the kids sucked though. They can't act for toffee, which doesn't bode well for next week. *:|*

The Bill: One For The Road/Start With The Whistle. A quick drink at Bob Cryer's 20th anniversary party ends up costing Sgt. Penny his whole career. A powerful couple of episodes, said to see an original cast member depart.

Doctor Who - Nightmare in Silver. After two episodes that almost approached basic competency, we were back to crap with a vengeance this week. Stupid, cringeworthy and agonisingly boring, this is quite possibly the worst Cyber story ever. What a colossal turd. Somebody make them stop, please! :T  *:|*

The Bill: Out of the Blue. Just one ep after Sgt Penny got his marching orders it's DCI Wray's head on the chopping block after the top brass get wind of his extra-marital liaisons with WPC June Ackland. Love Conway's closing line after Brownlow tells him the new DCI will be a woman: "Well at least we won't have to worry about this situation happening again... well, unless we're REALLY out of luck."

Doctor Who - The Name of the Doctor. After a pretty rum season this is a surprisingly enjoyable finale, and the final twist is actually rather cool and certainly makes for a very intriguing lead-in to the 50th special later in the year.

I even thought some of the Clara intrigues from the earlier episodes started to make a bit more sense too.

You've got to admit they get coolness points for John Hurt. :D

I just hope he isn't too big a star to really get into the role.

And how can they do a regeneration scene now that we've seen JH? :?

What dost thou mean?

I think the implication is not that he's a future Doctor-to-come, but a hidden past incarnation. Most likely between McGann and Eccleston, since we never actually saw that regeneration.

That's really gonna fook up the numbering system now, mind.
