It is good to see that Olivia Hallinan (Kimberly Daniels) has gone on to other things since.

It's a shame if series two is toned down too much because even just the two episodes I saw of season one were so good. I mean Kim having to translate between the French guy and Sugar while they were making out was brilliant.

Any details of other things Olivia has done? Have you seen any? Are they any good?

Olivia is a working actress so she has been in a lot of things like TV soaps and mainstream TV dramas. She was very good in Lark Rise to Candleford where she got a major part. Her bio notes that she has appeared in over 100 productions since the age of seven. I won't put any spoilers in here but I didn't find her relationship with the new girl in Series 2 as convincing as her madcap alliance with Sugar, and it lacked some of the offbeat, off-colour wit given by Julie Birchill, the author, to Series 1.

So, Is Sugar not in series two then? Sort of defeats the purpose of the name if that's the case. (or does she have a different role in 2?)

I'll have to track down some of the stuff that Olivia's been in to sample some as she shows a lot of talent in the little I've seen so far.

Yes Sugar is in it in a triangular sort of way, but the new love interest of Kimberly is to the fore. It's interesting but a tad darker than Series 1. The girls have grown up a bit and it's lost a shade of its innocence and playfulness that came out in the first series. In a way its a sort of clunky metaphor for Brighton. Go there for a holiday or dirty weekend and its fine, but if you get to know it you pick up on the underlying tensions beyond the funfair, the drug scene, prostitution, HIV, and endemic violence (as first portrayed in the book/film ''Brighton Rock'').

Ironically enough, the girl who played Sugar (even though I've never seen that show) was in the Doctor Who episode, "Gridlock", that I watched last night!

You're a sick, sick man Ian. (I mean that in a caring and sharing way of course.) :P
Although didn't she do the voice for Sherri, or was it Terri, once or twice? _O^

I was supposed to watch That 70s Show last night, but my dvd player decided to blow up instead. No really, there was smoke and everything.
This morning we had to disassemble the whole thing just to get the dvd out. It was the only one of my players that played multi-region and my YT dvds too. Looks like I'm buying another!

It's only a week and a half since the computer had to go in the shop for repair after going psycho, too  .

Just finished episodes 7 and 8 of Sugar Rush. Bloody Sugar, what a tease!
I can see a few of the other characters developing more now, as well as a few new ones. Most notably the girl at the church "anti-gay" group. (you had to be there). Lot of potential there.
Think I'll have to find the dvd of the series for this one. It'll be worth it just for the few episodes I've seen so far.

(In case you haven't realised it yet, I buy dvd's because I can watch a movie 70,000 times without getting sick of it, if it's good that is. I have a few "failures" but most of the things I have on dvd or tape I've watched many times. I really should get out more.   )

Uh, I don't think you're alone on that score on this forum, fish!

There are some movies (and the occasional series, like Doctor Who) that I've been rewatching since I was 9 or 10 or 11.

There wouldn't be much point in buying the dvds of things if I were a 'watch once' kind of person. Of course, it depends on the film/show. It's got to be GOOD, and to have a certain rewatchability factor as well. I've wasted far too much money on some dvds that while I enjoyed the first time, I have spectacularly little desire to sit through again.

Anyway...

Saw the 2 part new series DW story Daleks In Manhattan again last night. Completely bat**** crazy, but it's genuinely striking and memorable and, most importantly, thoroughly entertaining. Okay, so it goes on a bit too long and goes a bit off the rails toward the end,but for the most part it's really good stuff. Great period setting, lots of atmosphere, crazily imaginative ideas, old-skool pacing... so much to enjoy!

I feel that way about DVD's too. I could watch SML any day, any time as many many times as I possibly could. The same with Eva & Adam.

LOL Kyle, I'm not sure I could go that far with anything! You can OVERwatch things (esp in a short period of time). I like to give things a good gap. I mean, there was a Who story once, one of my faves for a very long time, but one viewing I just turned it off because I just KNEW IT so well I was sick of it. However, I gave it a rest for a few years and went back to it and it's back in my favourites list now.

I'm wary of overwatching things, though by the same token I'm wary of leaving things TOO long!

I'm just wary, basically. :P

My brother came over tonight so I have just watched a bit of sport on tv with him. He's very much into Aust. Rules Football so that was it for the night. Adelaide v Brisbane but the good guys lost. So be it. Not much else on so that was ok. :| Just a quiet night all round I think.
