Seinfeld - The Contest. Still hilarious after all these years.

House season 1. So much better than the rather tiresome soap it's turned into in recent years.

Started Soap season 1 again last night. Love this show - a true classic. Has weathered the years well, and still very funny, and it gives me such a nostalgia rush at the same time - was totally hooked on this show when I was about 9 or 10 (Channel 4 repeats in the early-mid80s). I was so amused later when I found out how "controversial" it was later on!

Doctor Who - The Space Museum. Disappointing Hartnell story has a terrifically spooky, almost Twilight Zone-y first episode, but then degenerates into a rather dull runaround with a bland guest cast. When even the villains are bored, you know it's not going to be edge of the seat stuff. Still, Ian gets to beat up lots of people and generally be a total badass, so it's not all bad.

Millennium - Lamentation/Powers, Principalities, Thrones & Dominions. This dark 2parter from late in the first season effectively changes the show from the "serial killer of the week" rut it had fallen into, into more supernatural waters. It starts 'normally' enough, with the apparent escape of a Lector-like serial killer, but before long one of Frank's best friends has had his throat slit in Frank's basement by a man/woman/something, and Frank himself makes the acquaintance of a creepy lawyer whose offer of a "job" seems loaded with sinister connotations. Terrifically menacing stuff.

Sounds too creepy for my poor delicate soul.

Much more to my taste was "Amélie" on TV again today.
I watched it, again.
Such a beautiful film.
Audrey Tautou.
Such a beautiful actress with incredible talent.

You big wuss. :P

Amelie is very sweet.

I initially accidentally wrote 'Amelia' there. Freudian slip?

Doctor Who - The Chase. Didn't like it as much as I normally do - not sure why (maybe just not in the right mood). Still good fun, though, with the "haunted house" section a comedic highlight.

Doctor Who - The Sontaran Strategm. From a 1965 story to a 2008 one in one night! I actually quite enjoyed this, probably for the first time really. It helps divorcing it from the rest of the (mostly terrible) season around it as, while there are still bits that make me  and :T they're easier to overlook out of context. And while it's hardly great, it's good fun in a turn-your-brain-off action romp kinda way, and Mike The Cool Person is very good as the Sontaran leader. Silly fun.

Big Brother 12 (US). Rachel and Brendon are on the block and one of them will go home (probably Rachel). I love them and don't want to see either of them go home. It sucks!!

How come you've got time to watch TV Kyle?
I was sure you'd be exhausted from all the nappy changing and baby baths and all that. :P

Seriously, I hope everything's going smoothly and that everyone's well. Image

Seinfeld - The Outing. Jerry and George are mistakely outed as homosexuals in this classic episode. Best bit is George realising the misunderstanding will help his dump his unwanted girlfriend, so he carries the charade a little too far when he and said girlfriend walk in on Jerry with a woman. "Jerry! What are you doing? Oh my God, HOW COULD YOU! I TRUSTED YOU..."

Doctor Who - The Dominators. Godawful. Turned it off halfway thru. 17 years and a sprucing up for DVD has not improved it any. By far the worst Troughton story. Geez, they junked Web of Fear and Power of the Daleks and kept THIS?

Dawson's Creek season 1. Skipped some of it (mainly anything involving Dawson whining, which he does a lot :T ), but "Detention" (a neat little homage to The Breakfast Club) and the Halloween ep "The Scare" (which has a bit of intertextual fun with the fact the show was created by Kevin "Scream" Williamson, especially in the scene with Jen's creepy phone call) are still terrific episodes, and "Double Date" is a game of two halves - the Dawson/Jen plot is :r , but the Pacey and Joey subplot is great - Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson had such terrific chemistry, and its easy to see why they ended up making them a couple in a couple of seasons' time. :D

Been "giving another try" to several Tennant Who stories I previously hated - Voyage of the Damned, Journeys End and The End of Time, in the hope that they would somehow improve second time.

They didn't. :r :T
