Dr Who - The Tenth Planet last night. For such a momentous story (the introduction of the Cybermen, the 'death' of the First Doctor) it's not what it ought to be. I'm none too keen on the original Cybermen (the 'cloth mask' faces aren't too bad, quite creepy at times, but the rest of the design is cumbersome and the voices are laughably bad). Hartnell gets a bit of a rum deal too in his last story, seemingly barely present at times. The regeneration itself is very striking, however, and oddly moving. Hartnell's barely coherent delivery of the line "It's far from being all over..." is real hairs-rising-on-the-back-of-the-neck stuff, though.

Yes, Minister- Not sure the name of the episode and Alyssa is with the girls, so I won't ask. I'll look it up later. Hilarious episode though!! :) My favorite line: (The minister, Jim Hacker says to Sir Humphrey Appleby about being asked for drinks by other ministers in number 10) "Number 10 doesn't invite you for drinks because you're thirsty."

This just a random picture, not related to the line.

Watched the extras on the Doctor Who - Revenge of the Cybermen and Silver Nemesis discs this afternoon. Very good, 'specially the SN doco (oh, those were the days ) and the "Cheque, Lies and Videotape" (about the video exchanges that went on between fans in the days before official releases)one on Revenge was highly amusing too. Well I remember the days of 10th generation video copies that wobbled and warbled lol. Like that other guy, though "I never paid for it".

Sons and Daughters. Oh, this is the S&D I remember - it's all so deliriously lurid. I couldn't even try explaining these plotlines to newbies at this point!

David, David, David - hasn't this man ever seen a movie before? When you find a guy dead with the gun lying next to him, you don't, don't DON'T pick it up. :T

Dr Who - the remaining episodes of The Underwater Menace and The Moonbase. TUM is stupid but funny, Joseph Furst competing with Graham Crowden as "Most OTT Villain" ever, while The Moonbase is genuinely atmospheric and spooky, and these Cybermen are a lot better than the first lot. Such a shame half of it is missing. :(
Still, all good fun.

Apparently Graham Crowden has died this week, aged 87. :( He turned down the offer of the part of Dr Who , which went to Tom Baker in the end. :Y

Yeah, I heard. :( I remember him from Waiting For God, as well as his ludicrously OTT performance in The Horns of Nimon. Him and Tom trying to outham each other was a sight to see.

Dr Who - the remaining eps of The Faceless Ones and Evil of the Daleks. Very good. As with all the other 'randoms', of course, it's so sad that so many are missing and so frustrating when you're just getting into the story that you can't see the rest of it! :(

Eerie Indiana: The Retainer. Very amusing episode in which a kid fitted with a new dental retainer is suddenly able to pick up the thoughts of dogs like a radio transmission... and they're planning revolution!

I particularly like the bitchy poodle in charge of it all. "As soon as we've mastered the secret of the doorknob, Eerie is ours!"
