And then, like the bats, everybody retreated to their cave and left Åmål a gloomy windswept wasteland. Another day has failed to live up to its promise.
As I write, cars full of fleeing Åmålians are pouring into central Säffle where they are sure of some hot coffee, some mulled wine and that empty bottles will be collected.

01:26 Saturday in Åmål and the place is jumping.
Christmas lights have been put up in the big tree on the right.
A bunch of people are walking around.
Traffic is filling the road.
*:)*

Let me check again.....
Everyone's run away.
The road in now empty.
The lights are the only reminder of former glory.

01:30 and the excitement is over.

I dooooon't believe it! I saw the artic truck this morning and wondered what they were up to. Well we can see now. A half-hearted draping of a string of leccy bulbs around that sad defoliated tree. At the least get a REAL Xmas tree to decorate. They must be ten a penny in Western Sweden. Everywhere esle looks shitnormal for a friday night there. I'm going to Kristian's festen if you care to join me ... at least we can drink it off our minds. :|

I'm on my way. *:)*

Is that another tree with lights down the road by the intersection? They're going full bore with the decorations, eh?
Too bad no one comes out at night to see them. :P

10:00 Monday and the place is jumpin'.
People walking everywhere. Cars are even having to stop for them at the zebra.
Bike riders, pram pushers, the lot.
Pity there aren't any plastic bottle collectors. Still, can't have everything.
No flags, no water for the salmon, the deccy lights aren't even on, but still the crowd is out in force today. *:)*

By the way, I seem to have misplaced Snaps. Last spotted at "Kristian's festen" getting tired and emotional over a bottle of fine Bulgarian wine or three. Sent me out for some Jacob's Creek and had gone missing on my return. Was it something I said, d'ya think?

Oooohhh eeerie 8am CET. Clear blue sky just lightening. Everywhere has the same luminescent glow. I think it must be a frost. :Y We had our first frost of the season yesterday. :r *pokes head out of window* no, none this morning. Flags have gone, there is a xmas tree in the square but the cheapskates have only lit up the top part of it.

09:00 Wed and it looks soooo cold.
Bright blue sky but everything else looks dusted with white, even the web-cam lens.
Very white grass along the banks of the river.

I think I'll enjoy coming here when our summer gets unbearable. *:)*

Bunch of people hanging around past the bridge on the other side of the road.
We could be in for a rumble. :D

Naaah. They just got into cars and drove off. :x

What a bummer.

It must have been those vandals late last night. :x

I knew I should have kept an eye on them.

If it's any consolation Båstad cam is working.

But it's even more boring than the one in town. *:|*

I mean it's just bloody water. Where's the value in that. :x :P
