I have quite a few Drop the Dead Donkey episodes on tape, and Blackadder, just brilliant. I dust them off for an occasional viewing along with Red Dwarf and Brittas Empire.

Speaking of Red Dwarf, I saw the brand new one last night, and...

I thought it was really rather good, actually! Very enjoyable. They all slipped back into character pretty much effortlessly, and indeed they barely seem to have aged much either. The lack of a studio audience seemed odd at first but I got used to it soon enough.

As a reunion show, it was inventive, celebratory and funny, and with a positive ending. If there's more, cool. If there isn't, then at least Red Dwarf has gotten a much, MUCH better and more satisfying ending than the dreadful end of series 8.

All in all, a pretty much unqualified success, I'd say (generally better than most of the last two seasons proper).
Really enjoyed that, I'll happily buy it properly on dvd.

Even if if turns out to be for one night only, good to have you back, boys.

I missed the Boys from the Dwarf last light unfortunately. Fox will show a replay at some stage if it was there but I'll probably have to wait a bit longer if it was on ABC 1 or 2.

I agree about the last couple of series too, I think the writers just got a bit tired and ran out of ideas. But still ranks up with the best.

Two more X Files last night. Firewalker is a bit meh, (though the effects are suitably gross and it's always nice to see Shawnee Smith) but Red Museum is great. I love how complicated it is, and how it takes over halfway through the episode to reveal that this "creepy small town" story is actually a part of the Conspiracy arc. It's very clever, and very good.

I watched Phoebe In Wonderland last night, expecting a cute little kids' film, but it's actually quite deep and a bit dark, dealing with poor little Phoebe's mental health issues. I thought it was a very good story, very well acted especially by Elle Fanning who played Phoebe, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, serious movie.

Another X Files marathon last night, Aubrey, Irresistible and Die Hand Der Verlezt. All good, strong, scary stuff. I was most amused to see that Scully's therapist in Irresistible is none other than George's daffy boss from Dead Like Me, and astonished when, literally the very next episode, one of the high school girls was Laura Harris, Daisy from Dead Like Me!!!

X Files: Soft Light.

Mr Monk REALLY has something to be obsessive about in that one!
